描述：This gene encodes one of three enolase isoenzymes found in mammals; it encodes alpha-enolase, a homodimeric soluble enzyme, and also encodes a shorter monomeric structural lens protein, tau-crystallin. The two proteins are made from the same message. The full length protein, the isoenzyme, is found in the cytoplasm. The shorter protein is produced from an alternative translation start, is localized to the nucleus, and has been found to bind to an element in the c-myc promoter. A pseudogene has been identified that is located on the other arm of the same chromosome.

Western blot: NIH/3T3, C6, HEK293, HeLa and SH-SY5Y cell lysates stained with Mouse monoclonal Enolase 1 Antibody (green) at 1:10000 dilution.

Immunofluorescent analysis of HeLa cells stained with Mouse monoclonal Enolase 1 Antibody, dilution 1:500 in green and costained with Chicken Polyclonal HSP60 Antibody dilution 1:5,000, in red. The blue is DAPI staining of nuclear DNA. The MCA-253 antibody reveals strong cytoplasmic staining while the chicken HSP60 antibody specifically labels mitochondria in these cells.

Chromogenic immunostaining of a 4% PFA fixed paraffin embedded rat cerebellum section with Mouse monoclonal Enolase 1 Antibody, dilution 1:1,000, detected with DAB (brown) using the the Vector Labs ImmPRESS method and reagents with citrate buffer retrieval. Hematoxylin (blue) was used as the counterstain. The Mouse monoclonal Enolase 1 Antibody  labels the nuclei of non neuronal cells in the molecular and granular cell layers with a concentration at the nuclear membrane. Purkinje and granule neurons are notably negative. This antibody performs well in testing with both 4% PFA and standard NBF fixed human and rat tissues. Mouse select image for larger view.
