Coptisine chloride
Coptisine is an alkaloid found in Chinese goldthread (Coptis chinensis). A bacterial collagenase inhibitor. Coptisine has been found to reversibly inhibit Monoamine oxidase A in mice, pointing to a potential role as a natural antidepressant.

Coptisine protects rat heart against myocardial ischemia/reperfusion injury by suppressing myocardial apoptosis and inflammation. Coptisine chloride can be absorbed across intestinal epithelial cells, and completely absorbed compounds. |
